Third Amend 11.07
Article 11.07 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure is the standard used for challenging a final felony conviction.
What this article means is an application for a Writ of habeas corpus. It is a post-conviction challenge where an inmate argues that their imprisonment is illegal.
The "Third Amended" Part: The incarcerated individual has updated and refiled their writ application for a fourth time.
Why It Was Amended: The applicant has discovered new evidence, realized a legal argument was missing, or needed to fix errors to comply with the strict procedural rules of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.
The Ultimate Goal: The document is filed to completely overturn a felony conviction, secure a brand-new trial, or fix a major constitutional violation that happened during the original trial.
